A 0.01% funding rate (the typical "calm market" level) compounds very differently depending on the period:

• 0.01% × 8h period = 10.95% APY
• 0.01% × 4h period = 21.90% APY
• 0.01% × 1h period = 87.60% APY

This is why per-period interval matters so much when comparing rates across exchanges. The heatmap normalizes everything to APY for easy comparison.
