Hosting & VPS

Where to actually run your side project. Boring stack-friendly providers that don't try to upsell you into a Kubernetes cluster.

Hetzner Cloud

from €4.51/mo (1 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB NVMe)
What I run all my projects on. Cheapest mainstream EU host, NVMe storage, no vendor lock-in. The 4€/mo CX22 is overkill for most side projects.

OVH

from €3.50/mo (VPS Starter)
Older French provider, slightly less polished UI than Hetzner but solid uptime. Good if you want EU jurisdiction and don't mind the dated console.

Vultr

from $2.50/mo (Cloud Compute)
Cheapest entry tier of the major US cloud hosts. 30+ regions globally. Slightly slower disks than Hetzner at the same price point.

Fly.ioFREE TIER

free tier (limited), then per-app billing
Different model — runs your app close to users via global edge. Good for latency-sensitive apps but the billing surprises some users at scale.

Railway

$5/mo Hobby + usage-based
Heroku-style PaaS without the Heroku price tag. Drop a Dockerfile, push to git, deployed. Easier than VPS but less flexible.
